Introduction to Enterprise Search

Search engines are the most fundamental workhorses in every digital workplace, but its challenges are under documented. Searching still takes up valuable time because of poor usability, where users play a guessing game with search engines, refining different combinations of keywords until they achieve the search results they need. Usefulness of the results is the next pressing issue. Information relevance and recommendations in enterprise search engines are not as robust as public search engines because referral links are non-existent. Thus, traditional page rank algorithms fail in enterprise search. With results not being accurate, even more time is lost in every search reattempt. Lastly, the perpetual ‘unknown unknowns’ plague current users. Users can only reach what they can name. Relevant information that cannot be extracted by a keyword-based search would therefore not be discoverable.

What is Omnitive Search?

In today’s digital environment, expanding operations are creating data silos. Organisations are demanding greater data- connectivity for better decision making. To achieve that, enterprise search engines not only need to identify information across both on-cloud and on-premise environments, but also understand and translate users’ complex requirements without the inefficiencies associated with it. Omnitive Search is an enterprise search engine tool that utilises the meaning of information to provide more accurate search results, understand user queries, relate contents, expand searches and to retrieve the corresponding knowledge more efficiently and precisely.
