Glossary

A - D

Term

Definition

Autocomplete

A feature where Omnitive Search completes rest of the word that the user is typing.

Class

A class is a set or collection of individuals or objects.

Connectors

Connectors perform transfer of control and data among components. They can also provide services, such as persistence, invocation, messaging and transactions, that are largely independent of the interacting components’ functionalities.

Crawl / Crawling

Scouring the Internet for content, looking over the code/content for each URL they find.

Definition

Entities

Entities represents an object or a thing.

Filter

A feature that allows the most relevant search results to be displayed but limiting the non-relevant results.

Index / Indexing

Store and organise the content found during the crawling process. Once a page is in the index, it’s in the running to be displayed as a result to relevant queries.

Individuals

The individuals may include concrete objects such as people, animals, tables, automobiles, molecules, and planets, as well as abstract individuals such as numbers and words.

Ingest

Transportation of data from assorted sources to a storage medium where it can be accessed, used, and analysed by an organisation.

Keyword Search

A Keyword search looks for words anywhere in the record.

Knowledge Graph

A knowledge base that uses a graph-structured data model or topology to integrate data.

Metadata

A set of data that describes and gives information about other data.

Ontology Manager

A way of showing the properties of a subject area and how they are related, by defining a set of concepts and categories that represent the subject.

Postprocess

Postprocess is to process after other processes have been completed.

Ranking

Provide the pieces of content that will best answer a searcher's query, which means that results are ordered by most relevant to least relevant.

Relevance

The extent to which data answers of gives insight into the question of the individual user.

Search Bar

Search Bar is the location to type what you would like to search on the Search Home Page.

Search Dashboard

Omnitive Search Dashboard is the main page that appears after clicking on Omnitive Search in the Omnitive Dashboard.

Sort Order

Sort Order is a process of arranging items systematically in a sequence ordered by some criterion.

Trending Topics

A trending topic is a subject that experiences a surge in popularity for a limited duration of time.
