Conducting a Search

This page explains how a user may perform a search and the various options available from the search home page

The Omnitive Search home page is where you can start your search. By typing in the Search bar, autocomplete will suggest keywords and users can conduct keyword searches across multiple repositories to retrieve relevant information or discover new content and knowledge. The Search bar supports NLP, keyword, cross-language and Boolean searching.

Natural Language (NLP) Searching

Natural language processing (NLP) is a branch of artificial intelligence that helps computers understand, interpret and manipulate human language. You are able to search query terms in natural language, for example, Who is the Prime Minister of Singapore?

Cross-Language Searching

You are able to conduct search using other languages. For example, key in Lee Kuan Yew in Mandarin and the results shown will include pages related to Lee Kuan Yew.

Boolean Searching

You are able to conduct search with operators such as AND, NOT, and OR, this helps you to narrow down your searches and produce more relevant results. For example, "Singapore" AND "Arts" and the results shown will include pages related to both Singapore and Arts.
