# Activate a graph version

In the previous tutorial, you uploaded a graph file to the Graph Dashboard. Now it's time to activate your graph file.

## Before we start

#### What's graph version?

In Omnitive Graph, graph version is used to record the changes happened in your knowledge graph. A graph version will be created when one of the following scenarios happens:

* Knowledge (Classes, individuals, relations or properties) is modified in the Graph Dashboard
* A graph file is uploaded and pass the system validation

#### Why do you need to activate a graph version after uploading a graph file?

After your graph file is uploaded and pass the system validation, the knowledge from your graph file is temporarily not visible in the Graph Dashboard. You need to activate it first to see the knowledge from your graph file in the Graph Dashboard.

## Activate a graph version

To activate a graph version:

1. Click **Version Control** in the top navigation bar
2. In Version History section, move your cursor over the graph version that you want to activate
3. Click **Activate**

Once the graph version is activated, knowledge stored in this version can be seen in the Graph Dashboard.
